Obbligato Objectives Inc. is an OEM company founded by two university professors (Drs. Bill Pietro and Scott Fielder) and is dedicated to the design and manufacture of research quality scientific instruments specifically intended for college and university teaching and research laboratories. All our instrumentation employ "fail-safe" circuitry to safeguard against inadvertent short-circuits or other misconnections inevitable in the teaching lab. Moreover, our instruments are driven by highly intuitive and highly instructional software to guide the student through proper operating procedures. Finally, without any compromise in quality, we make our instruments available to academic institutions at a fraction of the industrial market cost.
Dr. Bill Pietro is a highly recognized scientific researcher and educator currently serving as Professor of Chemistry at York University in Toronto. He is the author of over 100 research journal publications and three boo
ks in the areas of theoretical and materials chemistry, and has been designing electronic equipment for scientific research for almost three decades. Dr. Pietro holds numerous patents for scientific and analytical equipment, and directs the design and prototyping of Obbligato instruments.
Dr. Scott Fielder is highly respected internationally as a scientific researcher and educator as well as a computational and synthetic chemist, and software developer. Dr. Fielder is also well known for his novel methods of teaching science and technology, and has served as a consultant for educational institutions and the media. Dr. Fielder is currently teaching computer programming at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto. Prior to co-founding Obbligato Objectives Inc., he was co-founder of Wavefunction, Inc., where he designed the graphical user interface for Spartan, the most commonly used UNIX based program for computational chemistry in the world. Dr. Fielder oversees software design and programming at Obbligato Objectives.
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Obbligato Objectives, Inc. embodies four world-class machinists, a software development team (consisting of three programmers, an IT expert, and a graphics artist), and two electronics engineers. With our state-of-the-art machine shop and electronics assembly areas we can produce custom instruments of virtually any size and complexity and electronic circuitry on multilayer boards with full SMT and fine-pitch technology. We can also computer-enable your custom instrument, or develop stand-alone custom software. As our roots are in academic science, we offer our services to educational institutions and government laboratories with academic budgets in mind. We are happy to offer special consideration to Assistant Professors. For more information, please navigate to the Custom Design area of our website.
